Welcome to Out on a Walk! This blog was originally created as a log for my walks, a sort of motivation and document of the adventures I had taken, complete with pictures and play-by-play. While you will still find walks here, I have expanded this blog into my all-purpose blog. Here you will find not only my walks, but also my thoughts on life, faith and any other fun things I can think up!
Why I started walking: In 2008 I found out that I have hypothyroidism, or low thyroid hormones. The thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland in your neck that essentially functions as the “battery” for your body, controlling metabolism, mood and many other functions. When your “charge” is low, it is easy to be depressed and your metabolism takes a swan dive. Though you’ll find me in the gym on many days, walking has become a centering and even creative outlet for me (through pictures and writing.)
On top of these reasons, I wanted to make at least a small impact on those who visit this blog. I think that one of the best ways to impact another life is to live a life of example, rather than of chatty idealism. So, here is my humble attempt to document my love of healthy living, awe of nature, awe of human achievement, struggles of faith and document my attempt to understand this wonderful body and life that God has give me to live. Enjoy and leave me a comment!
